Giraffes grow to nearly their full height of 5,5mt (18ft) by four years of age but gain weight until they are seven or eight. Males weigh up to 1,930 kg (4,250 pounds), females up to 1,180 kg (2,600 pounds).
They can reach speeds of 50 km (31 miles) per hour and can maintain this for several kilometres, but 60 km (37 miles) per hour can be attained over short distances.

 Amazingly agile for their bulk, hippos are good climbers and often traverse rather steep banks each night to graze on grass. They exit and enter the water at the same spots and graze for four to five hours each night in loop patterns, covering one or two miles, with extended forays up to five miles. Their modest appetites are due to their sedentary life, which does not require high outputs of energy.

Lechwe are graceful antelopes found in wetlands of south-central Africa. They are golden brown in colour with white bellies. Males are darker than females and only males have horns. The horns are long, spiral-structured and are vaguely lyre-shaped. The hind legs of lechwe are somewhat longer in proportion than in other antelopes; this is an adaptation to ease long-distance running in marshy soil.
